at work today i was giving a very well dressed woman her coffee mug, and she told me that she was buying her meal before her friend arrived. when questioned, she said that she didn't want him to pay for her lunch, as they had both just been laid off. she said to me,"maybe i should get a job here. you seem to be in no fear of losing your job." i told her where the applications were. we chatted for a bit, and it turns out she was an ex-employee of a bank who has recently cut 8K jobs.
fucken ridiculous.
her dooney and burke bag made me wonder how many women will soon learn that life ain't all about stamped leather and custom metalwork.
i'm ready to take my mad therapy skills and RUN, not walk, to the U.P.
