I would like to continue my musing about cars. Specifically, our cars. It costs a lot of damn money to own a car and that sucks. Figure, for a new car and a 5 year loan, you're not going to get away at less than $300 a month. And at that price, we're talking a plastic egg with a 4-banger. Now add insurance: Some of you may pay as little as a hundred a month, but as i am not both over 25 and "squeaky clean" in the records department, i pay a little more. Then, for shits, throw in gas at $20 a week (i'll be generous). You now pay $425 a month for a shitty car. (i'm more in the 600 range for an orange car.) that's 15 to 20 dollars a day just to own and operate your car. We're not talking upkeep here folks... figure a grand a year easily, averaged over the life of the car. This is why, in the future, I will work to ensure i can walk or bike to work.
Or, if you lived in Europe you could ride the tube for about a buck a day. But who really believes in public transportation anyway?
Also, it looks like Grad School finally got around to accepting me, so I if understand the cryptic email asking me to register for classes, i'll be starting the "Alternative Energy Technology" program at Wayne Statue U. in January.

Yes... but you could cut that down to about 5 bucks a day if you don't mind rolling 1970's detroit steel.
