"it seems pretty strange to me that they'd act so positively about me on the day of the interview and then just break off all contact... "
"sometimes this happens; maybe he got too busy. Maybe they decided not to hire anyone. Then again, our computer still shows the position as open."
"this is ridiculous. He promised an answer that day. Then again on Monday."
"well, they are still our client so we don't want to bug them too much about it."
"so i guess i won't be holding my breath anymore waiting to hear an answer?"
"that's probably best."

I for one am rooting for aplicant B.
Applicant Unit-B is mostly likely passed out in a gutter by now
Aplicant Unit B sounds like my kind of guy! I know he was the right man for the job!
notorious,
first, are you killing browns right now?
second, i think i'm going to enter this with my housemates... two syllables: fly wheels.
any ideas?
I am not killing browns... I am protecting some browns from being killed by other browns... while trying not to be killed by both browns, and marines at check points. Mostly I am getting used to the horable smells of poop, rot, and BO. I am also growning huge muscles for wairing heavy ass body armor all the time... and of course getting good at loading and unloading my 9mm.
Fly wheels are actualy 3 sylables... I think that it might work, but it said no stored enrgy. It seems to me that the idea of the flywheel looses its appeal if you cant have it cranked up and spinning crazy fast even before the race...
"two syllables" said for effect.
and what's with all this logic, man? we're talking fly wheels here!
You are right!!! fucking fly wheels... though it would have to be huge. Make it huge but light! The farther out you get the weight the lighter you can make it but still get the same conservation of momentum! (A big ring)Then you get all the benefits of a heavy flywheel, but don't have to drag a heavy ass thing with you on the race!
Make it happen dude!
i don't want to give up all our design secrets, but it involves multiple riders: one to get you moving off the line in a lower gear, while the others spool up the bad bitch on the back. then, when the time's right, you pull the lever which pops the proverbial clutch on that mofo. BOOM! imagine having neck-snapping acceleration on a peddle powered vehicle!
right now, still working out the fine points of the design.
If you want to do some simulated prototyping with a software package, I could probably hook that up for you. Unless you already have pirated versions of FEM or FDTD dynamics solvers.
Of course, when I say "software packages", I'm really referring to this:

I think you should build an "alcohol dragster". It may be powered by humans, but all the decisions are made by alcohol (as is the case in any great design).
Your experience as "Applicant Unit A" reminds me of a quote from a recent episode of a TV show whose name I can't remember.
"People are bastard coated bastards with a bastard filling!"
It's really kind of a nice mantra.
simulation sounds like a poor idea... I'm not sure i want to know if this thing is gonna tip over and send it's high rpm inertia wheels of death flailing into the crowd. or my face.
for some reason that quote reminds me of something bender would say on futurama.
Shit!!! you are applicant unit A... an I have been rooting for Aplicant Unit B this whole time...
Sorry dude. I would switch and root for you, but I kind of have a team loyaly for applicant unit B now. Sorry buddy.
the munky just got his A's and B's mixed. i'm definitely B.
definitely.
yea... H for Hack!
